DESCRIPTION:The Winery at Long Shot Farm has partnered with Central Wedge Cheese Shop to bring you an educational and entertaining evening celebrating Pennsylvania cheese and wine. Join winemaker and grape growers\, Tina and Rachel Weyant\, along with local cheese expert\, Stephanie Beeman\, on this interactive cheese and wine pairing class. \nStephanie\, a Carlisle native\, has spent more than a decade combining her passion for food with her skills and knowledge of the dairy industry to bring a cheese shop to Carlisle. Her business specializes in artisan\, farmstead and specialty cheeses produced by Pennsylvania cheesemakers. \nAs you sample four Pennsylvania cheeses\, you will hear from Stephanie as she tells the story of each cheesemaker\, their production methods\, and how their business fits into the growing cheese scene in our state. Tina and Rachel will discuss the characteristics of the wines and share basic pairing strategies. Tools will be provided for you to practice scoring each pairing using a simple system.  Seasonal fruits\, vegetables\, nuts\, charcuterie and crackers will also be provided. \nTickets are $60 each or two for $100.  Space is limited.

DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join us Monday\, September 20th\, at 6 pm for an evening of wine and cheese. During our event\, please expect a basic introduction to cheese making\, categorization\, and cheese evaluation. We will then discuss the pairings of various Long Shot wines to the evaluated cheeses and additional foods. (Event is expected to last approximately 1.5 hours.) \nAnn Starbard will be your guide through our cheese pairing event. Ann formerly owned and operated a farmstead goat cheese business in Massachusetts for twenty years. During this time she studied cheese sensory evaluation and analysis at the Vermont Institute for Artisan Cheese. Ann also participated in sensory evaluation training at the international level while attending a Goat Association conference in the Canary Islands. She has led workshops in cheese making and tasting and dairy goat management in Vermont\, New Hampshire\, Massachusetts\, Rhode Island\, Tennessee and the Caribbean island of Grenada. Ann is the author of “The Dairy Goat Handbook”\, a complete guide to dairy goat care. \nSeats are limited.
