The Winery at the Long Shot Farm is a family owned and operated winery. Winemaking began as a hobby sourced with our excess harvest but has grown into a full blown obsession. We have been growing grapes and berries in the Valley for more than 30 years and experimenting with wine making for the last 25.
The Winery at the Long Shot Farm is owned by Jeff and Tina Weyant, but they are not doing all of the work alone. Their 5 children, 4 children in law, and 8 grandchildren all have their own way of contributing. We are a big family and that allows us to pull from everyone’s strengths.
Two of our children have established their own vineyards to supply wine grapes and fruit to the Winery. They are both located within 1 mile of the Long Shot Farm. Anja and her husband Duff, although living in New Mexico, help tend their vineyard located on Opossum Lake Road throughout the summer. They also can be found drilling posts and helping to make wine at the Winery. Their children Leif, Freyja, and Torin are fond of blackberry harvesting, trimming their vines, and labeling the boxes of freshly bottled wine. Zach and his wife Rachel tend their own vines at Ripple Brook Vineyard and both of them enjoy driving tractors. Their three kids Toben, Fiona, and Adelaide, can be found harvesting grapes and berries and moving empty boxes at bottling time.
Rachel can often be found in the tasting room with daughter Samantha. Samantha fulfills the artistic demands of the winery, including logo design, creating the wine labels and hosting painting events. Their son Lars is currently a student at Penn State working toward his degree in Plant Science and assumes many vineyard operations, along with his brothers Jens and Zach.
It’s “all hands on deck” at harvest time, crush and bottling! Everyone continues to learn more about growing grapes and making wine, improving our processes. We are excited to share our passion with you.
Special thanks to the Cumberland Valley Visitors Bureau and USDA Rural Development for their support.
